How to Play Magic 8 Ball Magical Encounters

Turn Order

Object & Set Up

OBJECT OF THE GAME
  • Work together to find all FOUR CRYSTALS!

SET UP
  • GAME BOARD & HEROES

    Place the game board where all players can reach.

    Have each player place a hero at the START and take a reference card.

    TOKENS

    Mix up STAR TOKENS and place one facedown on each STAR TOKEN space.

    Mix up TREASURE TOKENS and place them facedown in a pile next to the board.

    ENCOUNTER CARDS

    Shuffle ENCOUNTER CARDS and place them facedown next to the board.

    DOORS

    Place all DOOR TILES on the board with the OPEN side facing up.

    DRAGON SPEED TILE & HEART TILE

    Place DRAGON SPEED TILE on “+0” position.

    Place HEART TILE on the number of players. (e.g. Place it on number 3 with 3 players.)

    GADWORM

    Place GADWORM on the dragon’s lair space.

How to Play

TO START
  • The youngest player starts first and then play continues clockwise.

TURN ORDER
  • 1. ROLL THE DIE

    2. MOVE HERO

    3. PERFORM ACTIONS

    4. MOVE GADWORM

FULL RULES
  • ROLL THE DIE

    Player Movement (White)

    Dragon Movement (Blue or Yellow. Stick to the color shown when there is a split path.)

    MOVE HERO

    Move your hero in any direction UP TO the number of spaces indicated by the white number or don’t move at all.

    PERFORM ACTIONS

    a. Pick up a STAR TOKEN. Use it immediately or keep it for later use.

    If the STAR TOKEN is a CRYSTAL, place it on one of the towers.

    Move DRAGON SPEED TILE one space to the right whenever a CRYSTAL is placed. This makes Gadworm go +1 space faster every time he moves.

    b. Get an ENCOUNTER CARD.

    The player to your left draws the top ENCOUNTER CARD and reads it out loud without letting you see.

    1. Make a choice between the two options.

    2. Ask the MAGIC 8 BALL with a question, “will it work?”. Turn it over to see if you get a , or ?. This tells you what you get from the ENCOUNTER CARD.

    3. Check for the icon on the REFERENCE CARD for the result and discard the Encounter Card.

    MOVE GADWORM

    Move GADWORM clockwise on the path. If the path splits, he moves along the colored path as shown from the original dice roll.

    Add spaces to his movement from the DRAGON SPEED TILE, if more than 0.

    If GADWORM passes through or lands on the same space as one of the heroes…

    …they must MOVE to the dragon’s lair and LOSE one health point.

WINNING
  • Place all FOUR CRYSTALS on towers before the heart tile moves to 0 and WIN!
